Bel's Nest Log: EARLY MORN: M stands up, preens
then tucks head to sleep 1:38:55am; M does the fluff-n-roll 1:50:05 then
snuggles back down 1:52:30; M stands up to preen & f-n-r 3:13:51, lays back
down 3:18:35; stands up again 3:49:31, cams resets at 4:01am and M is laying
back down; M stands up 4:55:28. MORN: M stands up to f-n-r 6:00:43, snuggles
back down 6:03:37; f-n-r time 7:11:18, lays down 7:12:24; IR light off
7:31:47am; D flies by from left to back of nest 7:38:30 and M softly squees;
per Tani-D misses trying to grab a branch in the back 7:38:28; D flies by on
right side 7:47:08 and comes in FD w/stick 7:47:24; D puts stick on M 7:47:31;
M gets up 7:47:49; M out LSD 7:48:33, D rolls-n-fluffs, snuggles down 7:49:07;
D rolls-n-fluffs 7:59:34; S/C#2 M in to LB 8:55:08 & D chirps, D out BD
8:55:46, M softly talks 8:56:10, M hops to nest 8:57:12, after roll-n-fluff M
snuggles down 8:59:25; D in LSD 9:01:30, cleans up nest a bit, hops to LB
9:03:10 & flies off 9:03:15. Per Jani - M watches something intently
10:09:29; M fluffs up and starts alert calls 10:10:28; M stands up alerting
10:10:30; IT (Intruder) lands on a LB 10:10:46; IT lands on BB 10:11:57; IT
flies off 10:12:14; 10:12:57; IT tries to land on/breaks off a LSB 10:12:58; M
alerts as there is a flyby under nest from right 10:14:10; M starts alerting
10:16:32; IT lands on left rail 10:16:40; M turns and chases it off 10:16:43; M
goes back to bole 10:22:47 and reassures egg 10:23:17; M settles over egg
10:24:12; M alerts 10:57:35; intensely at 11:01:22; AC view shows that,
intruder lands on left outer branch and D swoops in to chase it off; M watches
the action flying around nest and flyby behind nest 11:02:20 & 11:02:25; D
must be chasing IT; D in hot pursuit flyby behind nest 11:02:52. Ground Report
per BEP about Dad chasing intruder: "Holy crap Batman . That was not good.
They are still after each other going towards river. They actually hooked on
for a second thought they were going to ground. Not back yet. Were hot after
each other few minutes ago going to river. (A short time later…) Dad back on
perch all good." M gets up 11:34:08; M moves to pantry to nibble on the
nestover 11:36:12; D in BD w/stick landing over M close to egg 11:38:46; D
places stick on front rail then turns to give the egg attention 11:38:54; D
lays down as M still works on pelt 11:41:08; S/C#3 M to LB 11:58:09; D gets up
11:58:13; M out 11:58:20; D to LB/out 11:58:24; D in BD 11:58:37; D lays down
11:59:21; S/C#4 M in BD w/fluff 12:13:50; D to RB 12:15:19; D out 12:16:21; M
moves to bole and rolls egg 12:18:00; M lays down 12:18:58; M still on nest at
1:24pm. Per Sasha-M calls out to D 01:57:08>02:00:30, D lands on LB
02:00:31, D then jumps to RB 02:00:40, M gets up from bole 02:00:44, M to LB
02:01:31, D heads towards bole 02:01:37, M out LB 02:01:42, D rolls &
shimmies onto egg 02:02:20. Per Jani-D tracking something 3:20:14; D gets up
3:49:52; D out FD 3:50:03; flies around nest on AC then in BD alerting 3:50:35;
D out BD 3:52:15; D in BD 3:54:07; lays down 3:54:22; D gets up 3:55:08; D out
FD 3:55:11; S/C#6 M in BD 3:59:40; M moves to bole and rolls egg 4:00:30; M
lays down 4:02:18; M finds a nestover while lying there and tries to gulp it
down 4:19:48; gets up with it then down it goes 4:20:27; lays back down
4:22:29; M nibbles on pelt while lying down 5:09:53; M gets up w/pelt in beak
5:10:45; M takes it to the pantry to eat; coyote howls and M stares at area
behind nest 5:27:46; M slowly moves back to bole to roll-n-fluff 5:34:45
snuggles down 5:36:08; coyote howls again 5:38:42; D seen landing on tree in
background 5:45:40, he calls a greeting to M and she quietly answers; M softly
talks again 5:53:08; M snuggles on egg 6:28:37. M wing slaps 7:34:15 (probably
at Rocky) & stands up; snuggles back down 7:37:59pm.
