Bel's Nest Log: Per Sasha: EARLY MORN: One lone coyote howls out 1:00:25 - 1:00:47 - 1:03:20am; pack of coyotes howl back really close by 1:03:30. MORN: Windy night & morning on nest; M calls softly out to D starting at 7:13:47 for several minutes; M starts calling out louder at 7:16:45 & continues; D finally calls back 7:27:18; M still calling out to D 7:30:40; M watching D 7:31:03; D flies behind nest 7:32:47. Per Bel: S/C#1 - D lands on LB 7:33:01, M gets up 7:33:11, D steps to nest 7:33:28, M briefly hops to LB 7:33:35, but loses grip with left foot & flaps back to nest 7:33:40, M back to LB 7:33:52 & out 7:33:56 and D snuggles down on eggs; IR light off 7:41:36. Per Sasha: D gets off bole to shift position 7:46:25, D beak-plows, rolls eggs and shimmies down 7:46:46; Cam 1 goes off line 7:55:34. Per Bel: Cam 2 & Appr Cam still up. Cam 2-D gets up 8:56:12, flies out BD 8:56:23 then chattering heard in background (mating or D asking for S/C), D in FD 8:59:25 & snuggles back down on eggs 8:59:42. Cam 1 keeps going on and off throughout the afternoon. Shift change sometime around two thirtyish? D went to their favorite perch. sub-adult intruder 4 to 4-1/2 years old, flew through around 2:45. M was on the nest and alerted, & D alerted from the perch. About five minutes later, D took off in the same direction as the intruder. Per TNT: Cam2-D chirps then gets up 2:39:19, D flies off 2:39:31; M in 2:40:01, she gingerly places herself over the eggs & fluffs-n-rolls then snuggles down 2:41:58; D in FD 5:15:31, he moves a big stk causing M to get up 5:16:08; D goes to bole for a fluff-n-roll 5:16:31; M hops to rail & out FD 5:17:15; D calls to M 6:02:09; M in 5:02:32, picks up a big stk & almost puts it on the eggs, D helps move it back; D out FD 6:03:18 as M fluffs-n-rolls; M snuggles down 6:04:29; IR light on 6:18:40pm.
